Florida Beachfront Homes

With approximately 1,350 miles of coastline and over 600 beaches, Florida has an ample coastline for beachfront homes. The coastline can be divided into three separate areas: The Panhandle , also known as the Emerald Coast, The West Coast on the Gulf of Mexico and the East Coast on the Atlantic Ocean.

The Panhandle

The Panhandle of Florida borders Alabama and Georgia to the north and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. One of the most popular destinations in the Panhandle is the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area. Along Destin’s beaches, you’ll find a number of condos and gorgeous beachfront homes. These homes offer wonderful views of the Gulf of Mexico with pristine white sandy beaches. Many of these homes offer ample square footage for entertainment and family enjoyment.

You’ll find yachts docked in waterways for easy access to the Gulf for fishing and recreational purposes. Other well-known beaches in the Panhandle also include Pensacola, Panama City, Apalachicola, and the famous St. George Island beach and wildlife park. These beaches are famous for their white sand and emerald water. All along the “Forgotten Coast”, you’ll find beachfront homes from older homes to newer construction.

The West Coast

The West Coast of Florida borders the Gulf of Mexico. You’ll find different kinds of sand and beaches all up and down the coast. Some of the more popular beaches and towns on the coast are in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. One of the most popular beaches from all over the United States and is consistently voted as one of America’s top beaches is Siesta Key, because of its ultra-fine white powdered sandy beaches.

The water is crystal clear and is near the small town of Venice. Sarasota is also nearby and offers a variety of restaurants, theatre and nightlife. There’s also plenty of history along this part of Florida. Along the coastline, you’ll find extravagantly luxurious homes with beautiful views of sunsets. Farther south on the coastline, you’ll find the popular towns of both Ft. Myers and Naples. Both are known for their palatial beachfront homes and expensive real estate.

The coastline is dotted with high rise condos and extravagant homes within a stone’s throw of some of the most beautiful beaches on the Gulf Coast. The well-known island of Sanibel is across the bridge from Ft. Myers and is home to pebble beaches and shells. Many prefer living on Sanibel’s beachfront for its privacy.

The East Coast

The East Coast of Florida is more heavily populated with Miami to the far south and Jacksonville, Florida’s largest populated city, in the northern part of Florida on the Atlantic coast. Miami has been known for many years to be the home of some of the most rich and famous in America. There are many high rise condos and large estate homes on Miami’s beaches. Nearby in Ft. Lauderdale, you’ll find regal and lavish beachfront homes with yachts nestled away in one of the many canals going out to the Atlantic Ocean.

Another very popular beachfront city is Daytona, also home to the famous Daytona Raceway. It is an older city and has a very high population of retirees. Many come to Florida for the climate and beautiful ocean views. Beachfront properties in Daytona are impressive and a great destination for anyone coming to Orlando, but wanting to spend time on one of Florida’s beaches. Jacksonville has grown significantly over the past several years and is a splendid choice for beachfront property as it is located near so many other states and cities.

Florida has so many wonderful beachfront properties that it’s hard to decide which one offers the best value. If you prefer more of a quiet lifestyle, then you would find the Sarasota area to be more inviting. However, if you enjoy entertainment and nightlife, then Miami still may be the best choice. Regardless, you’ll find your dream home on one of the many sought after beaches on one of Florida’s three coasts.
